Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at check lanes.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers according to policy.
4. Adhere to company policies on cash shortages and overages, and control loss effectively.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
9. Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers and answering product questions.
13. Follow all relevant laws, regulations, and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
