The cashier/checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers. They process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently, understanding the Point of Sale (POS) system and handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy. They must understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages, work honestly to control loss, and follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs). They report pricing discrepancies, follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons, stay current with ads, and adhere to food safety regulations. They reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management. They create a welcoming environment, answer questions about products, and comply with all laws and company guidelines. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
