Job description

The Cashier is responsible for checking out customer's merchandise through the POS registers. They perform various Customer Service activities, including greeting and acknowledging all customers in a prompt and friendly manner, and handling merchandise with care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
• Approaches all customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
• Remains knowledgeable about products and aware of advertised sales.
• Stocks and straightens shelves and pegs when not directly ringing up products.
• Provides a legendary customer experience by assisting in making buying decisions, identifying customer needs, making recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Ability to calculate discounts and make change accurately.
• Ability to communicate professionally and friendly with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to operate a computerized POS register system.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Constant standing and/or walking during shifts.
• Occasional use of ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Constant communication with others.
• Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Occasional work in low or high temperatures, outdoor elements, and noisy environments.
• Light physical effort including moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds constantly, and up to 50 pounds with assistance occasionally.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs tasks under general supervision, using established procedures and some innovation. Makes recommendations to work procedures and policies.
