Job summary

Cardiff Seaside Market, Inc. is seeking a friendly cashier to process transactions accurately and deliver excellent customer service. You will handle cash, cards, and mobile payments while keeping the front-end area tidy and welcoming for customers.

The role requires greeting customers, scanning items, applying correct produce codes, and maintaining a clean checkout area. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Responsibilities

Summary: You will be responsible for processing transactions accurately, handling cash and digital payments, and maintaining a clean, welcoming front-end area, while delivering excellent customer service experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly, answer questions regarding store policies and promotions;
• Scan, price, and bag merchandise accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system;
• Required to memorize produce codes and apply the proper code used to record the sale.
• Accept and process cash, credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments. Count and issue precise change and receipts;
• Keep check out lanes and surrounding area clean, organized, and fully stocked;
• Assist with stocking shelves, collecting carts, or helping other departments during slow periods;
• Other duties as assigned;
• Observe all store rules and company policies.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and some experience preferred.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal and verbal skills. Ability to speak clearly and remain polite under pressure.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Technical Savvy: Comfortable with learning and operating electronic equipment, touch-screen registers, and scanners.
