Job description

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out. Never sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until relieved.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy and store productivity standards, ensuring items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds collected during transactions.
4. Assist courtesy clerks in bagging groceries.
5. Keep the workstation and surrounding area clean and organized.
6. Follow all state and local laws regarding beer and wine sales.
7. Follow all federal laws related to WIC handling.
8. Adhere to coupon handling procedures.
9. Follow company procedures for check cashing and tendering.
10. Understand and comply with policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
11. Use assigned tills properly according to company policy.
12. Take weekly produce tests.
13. Ensure all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
14. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change.
15. Use the intercom correctly.
16. Avoid conversing with other associates while checking out orders.
17. Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
18. Assist with light stocking duties, such as candy and cigarettes.
19. Sweep the front end area.
20. Replace misplaced items to their proper locations.
21. Maintain the cleanliness of bathrooms.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
