Description

The Cashier is responsible for creating a guest-focused environment while ensuring accurate financial transactions throughout the shift. Responsibilities include verifying initial cash, answering phone calls, preparing beverages such as coffee and tea, cooking soups, setting up displays, and managing the condiment station and front-of-house (FOH) setup. Additional duties involve frosting cakes, cutting bars and brownies, emptying trash, and assisting with cleaning tasks like sweeping and mopping. The role may also include substituting for Expo, Server Assistant (SA), or bussing staff as needed.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee, tea, and specialty drinks as a barista.
• Package sweets and cakes.
• Set up and maintain displays, changing them based on time of day.
• Manage condiment station setup.
• Set up the cashier station, including operation and cash flow management.
• Verify initial cash and ensure accurate financial transactions.
• Answer phone calls and describe food offerings, allergens, and nutrition information.
• Engage in upselling and suggestive selling of products.
• Frost cakes and cut bars/brownies.
• Maintain a well-stocked FOH area.
• Empty trash and perform cleaning duties such as mopping and sweeping.
• Communicate effectively with guests and address guest requests promptly.
• Support company initiatives related to sales, guest service, and food safety.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Perform secondary functions like food delivery, bussing, cleanup, and restocking.
• Check restroom cleanliness and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State Food Handler Card/ServSafe certification as applicable.
• Preferably at least 3 months of experience in cash handling within a restaurant or retail environment.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient in POS systems.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
