Job summary

Winona Health seeks a Cash Receipts Specialist to post insurance and patient payments across clinics, hospital, and other care settings. You will rotate duties to maintain accuracy and ensure timely posting of EFT and checks.

Responsibilities include balancing systems, researching variances, reconciling deposits, and handling non-sufficient funds. Strong data entry and customer service skills are essential in a fast-paced, on-site role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior cashier and/or insurance experience preferred.
• Proficient data entry and 10-key skills; good computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Post insurance and personal patient payments in billing systems for multiple sites.
• Balance daily operating systems and research variances as needed.
• Reconcile daily deposits and resolve discrepancies with appropriate staff.
• Process EFT and check payments and route nonpayments as required.
• Support other office functions and assist supervisor as needed.

*Starting Pay Between $17.91 - $22.39 Based on Experience

Position Overview:

The Cash Receipts Specialist is responsible for posting all insurance and personal patient payments for Winona Health into the various billing systems for clinic, hospital, nursing home, assisted living, and hospice.

• Will rotate between duties to maintain knowledge and accuracy with each.
• Posts all insurance payments received by electronic funds transfer (EFT) and by check into the various billing systems for the clinic and hospital. Potential backup for nursing home, assisted living, and hospice.
• Post split payments to the appropriate information system as needed.
• Ensures remittances received with no payment are posted appropriately or forwarded to appropriate business office staff member.
• Responsible for daily balancing of operating systems. They will research and document variances as needed.
• Responsible for reconciliation of daily deposit to bank and researching discrepancies, running daily reports.
• Researches and adjusts payment posting errors. Reports system issues to supervisor for resolution.
• Monitors and balances multiple reconciliation exceptions in reconciliation software.
• Follows up on non sufficient fund checks for hospital and clinic.
• Performs other miscellaneous office functions as directed by the Manager and/or Director as needed.
