Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• 6 months to 1 year of similar or related experience preferred.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential financial information.
• Effective communication with customers, cashiers, and store leadership.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and provide friendly service.
• Count registers after each cashier shift and balance cash and coin.
• Ensure cash pulls are placed in the safe and registers have adequate cash on hand.
• Sort checks, coupons, payouts, and charges into the appropriate register files.
• Calculate cash over/short and investigate discrepancies.
• Approve checks written for cash or merchandise purchases.
• Reconcile money orders, Western Union, utilities, and gift cards.
• Operate register programs using a mouse, 10-key keypad, and keyboard.
• Train cashiers and maintain an ongoing training program.
• Follow Hy-Vee policies and store Guidelines and report to work as scheduled.
