Job summary

Carolina PRG is partnering with a well-established manufacturing company to identify an experienced Cash Application Specialist to join their accounting team. This role focuses on applying daily payments, reconciling cash receipts, and maintaining accurate customer accounts across multiple ledgers.

You will collaborate with Credit & Collections, Sales, and Customer Service, resolve payment discrepancies, assist with month-end close, and drive continuous improvements to cash application

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Accounts Receivable or Cash Application
• Experience applying customer payments and resolving discrepancies
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with high-volume transactions and multiple priorities
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Experience with an ERP/accounting system
• Manufacturing, distribution, or B2B experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Process and accurately apply daily customer payments (ACH, wires, checks, etc.)
• Review remittance information and apply payments to customer accounts and invoices
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short pays, overpayments and discrepancies
• Reconcile cash receipts and customer accounts for accuracy
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to obtain missing remittance information
• Maintain accurate AR records and documentation
• Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and AR reporting
• Collaborate with Credit & Collections, Sales, and Customer Service
• Identify opportunities to improve cash application processes and efficiency
• Assist with other AR and accounting responsibilities as needed

What You'll Do:

• Process and accurately apply daily customer payments, including ACH, wires, checks, and other payment types
• Review remittance information and apply payments to the appropriate customer accounts and invoices
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short pays, overpayments, deductions, and other discrepancies
• Reconcile cash receipts and customer accounts to ensure accuracy
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to obtain missing remittance information and resolve payment issues
• Maintain accurate AR records and documentation
• Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and AR reporting
• Work closely with Credit & Collections, Sales, Customer Service, and other internal teams
• Identify opportunities to improve cash application processes and efficiency
• Assist with other AR and accounting responsibilities as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, or a related accounting function
• Experience applying customer payments and resolving account discrepancies
