Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development is seeking a Community Associate (56057) to support the HOME TBRA program and tenants in need. You will manage caseloads, screen applicants, verify eligibility, and prepare correspondence while coordinating with internal and external teams.

Position is grant-funded for a 2-year period and requires residency within NYC. Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills are essential, with bilingual abilities a plus and Section 8

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of assisted or applicant households
• Initial application screening
• Determination and verification of eligibility
• Client briefings (internal and external meetings)
• May perform community outreach to assist program participation
• Prepare and send appropriate correspondence, track responses
• Document case files and electronic records, file preparation
• Rent calculations
• Review of yearly recertifications of household composition and income/asset information
• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple cases while prioritizing cases for processing
• Attend mandatory trainings
