Job summary

VOA-Greater New York is seeking an Assessment Specialist to conduct standardized assessments for homeless individuals, identify housing barriers, and determine appropriate service levels. The role is based at Wards Island, NY 10035, with emphasis on coordination with shelter programs and area partners.

Minimum qualifications include an Associates Degree or 60 college credits in Human Services, or a HS Diploma with shelter experience, plus strong verbal and written communication skills and basic

Responsibilities

• Assess client’s housing and services needs and identify immediate housing placement opportunities.
• Collaborate with area providers to coordinate necessary services.
• Make referrals to case management, housing search support and other services as appropriate.

Position: Assessment Specialist

The Assessment Specialist conducts standardized assessments for homeless men to identify housing barriers and determine the level of service needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field or High School Diploma or GED with 2 year of relevant shelter experience.
• The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.
