Job summary

VOA-Greater New York is seeking an Assessment Specialist to conduct standardized assessments for homeless individuals, identify housing barriers, and determine appropriate service levels. Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 college credits in Human Services field, or High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of shelter experience.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide standardized assessments to individuals who have entered the shelter.
• Obtain household verification and background checks as required.
• Assess client’s housing and services needs and identify immediate housing placement opportunities.
• Collaborate with area providers to coordinate necessary services.
• Make referrals to case management, housing search support and other services as appropriate.
