Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a part-time Case Aide to support families experiencing homelessness. You will assist case management staff, provide crisis intervention resources, and help participants develop stability and self-sufficiency goals.

The role emphasizes compassionate communication, collaboration with diverse partners, and adherence to Harm Reduction/Housing First models. Responsibilities include client follow-up, documentation, and linkage to housing-related services.

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years’ experience in providing direct or indirect social services.
• Training and/or experience working with homeless or low-income households is desired.
• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Flexibility and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, positively and professionally with participants, providers, family members and others, often from very diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work well independently, with excellent skills in teamwork and collaboration.
• Ability to perform non-traditional tasks while meeting participant needs.
• Knowledge of counseling theory and techniques, chemical dependency treatment, physical or sexual abuse treatment.
• Knowledge of the Harm Reduction/Housing First model and commitment to that model.

Responsibilities

• Assist case management personnel to provide case management services to families experiencing homelessness.
• Provide support and resources for crisis intervention and counseling services to program participants and help them to develop goals focused on improving stability and self-sufficiency.
• Answer client questions, provide linkage to appropriate community resources and advocacy, accompany residents to view apartments and provide information and other resources to client families regarding housekeeping, care of property, parenting issues and needs assessment.
• Help case management services staff conduct follow up services to clients who have graduated from LSS housing programs and maintain client files, records, reports and case notes.
• Assist with funding reports, grant writing and site visits.
