Job summary

Automated Logistics Systems, LLC seeks a Carrier Operations Specialist in Grand Rapids to support Carrier Sales in executing freight operations, verify carriers, and communicate with drivers to ensure loads are set up for success.

You will partner with carriers, dispatch teams, and account managers to maintain carrier relationships, optimize load visibility (MacroPoint), and resolve issues quickly while monitoring KPIs such as verification rates and on-time pickup.

Responsibilities

• Verify all carriers and drivers prior to dispatch to ensure load success.
• Confirm driver details including name, phone number, truck/trailer information, and location.
• Ensure all carriers are properly set up and compliant with tracking requirements (e.g., Macropoint).
• Validate driver expectations for pickup, transit updates, and delivery milestones.
• Achieve 100% order and carrier verification for assigned loads.
• Proactively communicate with drivers prior to pickup to confirm load details.
• Serve as a key point of contact between carriers, Carrier Sales, and Account Management.
• Ensure carriers have received and acknowledged rate confirmations.
• Maintain accurate and timely updates in internal systems.
• Manage and resolve issues at the lowest level possible; escalate when necessary.
• Identify and address sub-par carrier performance and renegotiate where needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, dispatchers, and drivers.
• Negotiate accessorial charges and support cost control initiatives.
• Develop a network of reliable carriers to support ongoing operations.
• Assist Carrier Sales Representatives with booking loads; source and communicate carrier options.
• Negotiate competitive rates and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
• Utilize internal and external tools to identify capacity and optimize pricing.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring every load is set up for success through strong communication, carrier verification, and proactive problem-solving.
You will work closely with Carrier Sales Representatives, carriers, and internal teams to drive efficiency, maintain relationships, and ensure seamless load execution.

Key Responsibilities

Load Execution & Carrier Verification

• Verify all carriers and drivers prior to dispatch to ensure load success
• Confirm driver details including name, phone number, truck/trailer information, and location
