Summary and Essential Duties

The incumbent's core duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, and proactive problem-solving is expected.

  1. Conduct inspections of designated buildings and equipment; perform repairs and preventive maintenance on facilities.
  2. Apply trim and finishing touches to office interiors, including striping, dado work, and stippling.
  3. Apply decorative and protective finishes to furniture such as desks, chairs, and cabinets.
  4. Mix and match paint and stains; plan painting sequences, determine materials needed, and estimate time and costs.
  5. Paint hospital buildings, areas, equipment, and furniture using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  6. Perform maintenance in patient rooms, including door adjustments, tile replacements, drywall repairs, and painting; conduct safety checks.
  7. Inspect, repair, and improve walls and structures damaged in renovations or existing conditions.
  8. Interpret engineering drawings for layout and system operation.
  9. Perform non-destructive testing and document deficiencies.
  10. Build and repair cabinets, countertops, frameworks, and structures such as stairways and door frames.
  11. Measure, cut, and shape materials; install fixtures like windows and moldings.

This list is representative and not exhaustive. Management may assign additional duties as needed to meet hospital requirements.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • 0-3 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician; basic painting and carpentry skills preferred.
  • Focus on conflict resolution, confidentiality, active listening, emotional control, openness to ideas, and willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Clear and informative writing skills; ability to interpret written information.
  • Valid Driver’s License required; driving may be necessary.
  • Ability to pass criminal background, drug, and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have access to a well-maintained vehicle with valid registration.
  • Upon employment, provide up-to-date TB tests, vaccinations, or proof of immunity, including MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Hepatitis B; annual influenza vaccination during flu season or proof of allergy/declaration.
