Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a skilled carpenter to perform professional carpentry and finish carpentry on Layton projects, applying precision reading blueprints and accurate carpentry math to deliver quality finishes.

You will frame metal studs, install drywall, and install architectural finishes as specified, while keeping a clean, safe, and efficient job site. A high school diploma and 2+ years of carpentry experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably 2+ years carpentry experience.
  • Performs essential duties safely and efficiently with or without accommodation.
  • Owns the tools required of the Carpenter position.
  • Understands and conveys basic English commands for commercial construction.
  • Complies with attendance and production deadlines.
  • Age 18+.

Responsibilities

  • Frame metal studs and install drywall.
  • Install architectural finishes according to specifications and plans.
  • Read blueprints to determine measurements and materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site to company standards.
  • Interact with facilities and subcontractors professionally.
  • Form and pour footings and walls, shored decks, and edge form for slabs.

Summary

This position applies knowledge to perform professional carpentry and finish carpentry on Layton projects.

Duties
  • Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Frame metal studs and install drywall
  • Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans if necessary, on job.
  • Maintains a clean and safe job site to ICRA and Company standards.
  • Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, finishes, etc.
  • Utilizes carpentry math to calculate measurements required to construct facilities.
  • Applies knowledge of wood and metal finishes. (Finish Carpenters)
  • Determines elevations and layout through the use of builder levels, transits, lasers, etc.
  • Interact with facilities and subcontractors in a professional way.
  • Forms and pours footings and walls, shored decks, and edge form for slabs.
  • Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans if necessary on job.
  • Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, etc.
  • Applies knowledge of concrete and its properties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Has high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably 2 plus years prior general carpentry experience.
  • Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of Hospital Construction variables in situations where exact standardization exists; interprets a variety of complex instructions.
  • Owns the tools required of the Carpenter position.
  • Understands and conveys basic English commands, questions, and instructions regarding commercial construction.
  • Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken work. (Speak)
  • Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,00 Hz with or without correction. (Hear)
  • Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
  • Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
