Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of structure or fixture, and recommendations for fabrication and installation.
  • Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.
  • Prepares layouts, measures, cuts, or shapes wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall using saws, chisels, and planes.
  • Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, screws, or glue.
  • Installs structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trims, and hardware, using carpenters' hand and power tools.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Carpenter in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to carpentry tasks.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
