Summary

The Construction Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials to assist with various construction projects.

Description

The Construction Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials to assist with various construction projects.

Essential Functions

• Keep building and/or assigned areas of the jobsite clean and organized to maintain a safe and productive environment.
• Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures; report issues to the Foreman/General Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR manager.
• Measure, mark, and arrange materials based on blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Cut and shape structures, forms, or fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Use hand and power tools to build projects securely.
• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
• Check the accuracy of work with levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; correct issues as needed.
• Create wooden forms for concrete pouring or other construction projects.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Install windows and doors.
• Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Competencies

• Experience preferred but willing to train the right individual.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to travel as needed (typically less than 10%).
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Quick and accurate mathematical problem-solving skills.
• Proper care and use of tools.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
• Knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to hold a Med Card.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Clean driving record.
