Job description

KBS is seeking experienced carpenters to join our existing team of great talent. If you have experience and are proud of the quality work you produce, then keep reading.

Essential Functions

  • Repairs and replaces drywall
  • Installs moldings and trim
  • Installs casework, cabinets, and fixtures
  • Installs hollow metal and interior doors and frames
  • Installs a variety of hardware types
  • Erects or dismantles scaffolding, shoring, braces, fencing, traffic barricades, and other temporary structures
  • Covers surfaces with laminated plastic covering
  • Cuts tile, timbers, lumber, etc. to specified dimensions
  • Positions and holds timbers, lumber and paneling in place for fastening or cutting
  • Selects needed tools, equipment and materials from storage and transports to work location
  • Reads and interprets architectural & structural plans
  • Builds and repairs frameworks using hand tools
  • Daily job-site clean-up/traffic control as directed
  • Any additional duties as assigned by project team
  • Consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position

Education and Experience Required – C ombination of education, work experience and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Requirements:

  • Maintain a supply of traditional hand tools as well as battery-operated drill, multi-tool and saw. Expendables (blades, bits, etc.) to be provided by employer.
  • Skilled in using standard tools. Knowledge of appropriate tools and equipment for specific tasks.
  • Ability to operate various construction equipment including skid loaders, forklifts, boom lifts, etc.
  • Ability to read and implement a door and hardware schedule.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in performing duties. Able to review, understand and comply with manufacturers’ instructions on tool usage and materials installation.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions. Independent judgment required.
  • Ability to handle stress and interact with others. Maintain open, responsive and professional communications with internal and external clients, reporting incidents and concerns to Assistant Superintendent or Project Superintendent.
  • Basic knowledge of safety practices is required to protect self and others from injury in a potentially hazardous environment. Ability to learn required safety rules.

Physical Requirements - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly and frequently required to stand and walk (potentially several times per day and dependent on layout of the job site). Employee is regularly and frequently required to talk and hear; to sit, sometimes for long periods of time; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May have to work in various awkward positions such as stooping, bending, crawling, etc. for extended periods of time.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to extremes of outside weather conditions and frequently to high levels of noise.
