Job summary

Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs; engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.

As the Carpenter , you will perform the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors. Work involves most of the following: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. In general, the work of the maintenance carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

This category includes occupations concerned with maintaining and repairing buildings, grounds, and related facilities; installing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining in efficient operating condition a wide variety of engines and mechanical equipment designed for use in domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of related experience as a craft worker
• Certification in assigned area may be required.
• Consideration will be given to relevant professional experience commensurate with assignment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
