Description

This position provides operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. The qualified candidate must have extensive carpentry experience and be capable of working with little supervision. The candidate should assist with scope development with BELFOR estimators and run projects autonomously. An Intermediate Carpenter participates in the development of basic carpenters. Development objectives include expanding capability from residential to commercial and multi-family projects, leading and performing emergency services, and increasing material knowledge in various carpentry subsets such as framing, cabinetry, and trim. This position is Level 3 in the Progressive Carpenter track.

Responsibilities

• Recognize potential problems and request guidance promptly
• Answer project-related questions and direct complex queries appropriately
• Move and protect contents without damage
• Construct containment for dust, dirt, and airborne contaminants
• Perform floodcutting, salvaging, and labeling tasks using appropriate tools and BELFOR methods
• Complete shrink wrap training and projects
• Identify types of insulation, their thickness, and R-values
• Apply skills in Trim, Doors, Cabinetry, Insulation, Framing, Ceilings, Roofing, and Siding
• Maintain vehicle safety and cleanliness
• Maintain attention to detail and safeguard property according to BELFOR standards
• Understand customer service principles
• Work under time constraints and meet deadlines
• Work nights, weekends, and travel as needed
• Report work hours and materials used accurately
• Attend safety and operations training courses

Requirements

• Supervise unskilled labor, basic BELFOR employees, and subcontractors in residential settings
• Answer simple project questions and defer complex issues
• Maintain equipment used daily
• Perform emergency services such as board-ups and securing buildings
• Perform additional duties as required
