Job summary

FireKeepers Casino Hotel is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Finisher to perform rough and finish carpentry across the property in Battle Creek, MI. You will apply finishes, read blueprints, and log work using our maintenance system.

A valid driver's license is required to support site operations. The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a journeyman carpentry apprenticeship with at least 2 years of experience as a finish carpenter.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication.
  • High School diploma or GED; journeyman carpentry apprenticeship with 2 years finish carpenter experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable under FireKeepers Casino Hotel insurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Performs rough and finish carpentry and applies surface finishes throughout the property.
  • Utilizes the maintenance management software to log time and materials on jobs and closes jobs when complete.
  • Maintains certification for operation of all company equipment and vehicles.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, specs and material manuals; orders materials as needed.

PAY:

Starting at $26.17 to $30.88 per hour, with opportunities for annual increases

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Responsible for ensuring all maintenance painting and carpentry requests are carried out and completed in accordance with company standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a list of the main duties and responsibilities. However, other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management. All duties must be performed in accordance with Tribal, Federal, and other applicable requirements, organizational specific policies, procedures and practices.

  • Performs rough and finish carpentry and applies surface finishes throughout the property as assigned.
  • Utilizes the maintenance management software to log time and materials on jobs. Closes job when work is completed.
  • Maintains certification as required for operation of all company equipment and vehicles.
  • Performs preparatory procedures on assigned projects and organizes time to assure all proper steps are taken in completing and producing a finished job.
  • Creates material lists to support work in progress, obtaining quotes and coordinating the order with their supervisor.
  • Takes direction from Facilities Supervisors in prioritizing projects to be completed, work coordination with other departments, and aesthetic standards.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all materials and tools used in the normal course of performing the functions of the position.
  • Performs the functions of the position within all applicable safety, OSHA standards, and construction / building codes.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record as outlined in the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Attendance Policy.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

An applicant’s education, training and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the ability to successfully perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication is required.

High School diploma or GED. Journeyman certification from an accredited trade school for completion of Carpentry Apprenticeship program, with 2 years on the job experience as a finish carpenter. Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction drawings / blueprints, material specification manuals. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under FireKeepers Casino Hotel insurance.

GENERAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Facilities experience in a Casino, Entertainment or Hospitality environment.
