Job summary

Trident Transport is seeking a Cargo Claims Specialist to handle complex cargo and insurance claims, evaluate settlements, and coordinate with customers, brokers, shippers, and carriers. The candidate will manage information from incidents, generate certificates when needed, and work within the defined authority to advance claim resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of experience handling complex cargo or insurance claims preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT and federal transportation regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative ability to identify improvements while balancing customer obligations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (incl. Excel) and claims software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first line of contact for cargo claims and answer questions from carriers, customers and brokers.
• Gather information on incidents including wrecks, cargo and property damage.
• Provide insurance certificates when requested.
• Analyze data to determine claim validity and root causes.
• Communicate results to stakeholders within 72 hours; propose action plans.
• Notify involved parties of claims and coordinate resolutions with Operations.
• Enter and track claims in the TMS system and coordinate inspections as needed.
• Escalate with External Claims Adjusters and support settlements, payments, and final paperwork.
