Job summary

MHS Homes is seeking a proactive Estate Services Resilience Operative to focus on caretaking, cleaning, grounds maintenance and waste services across our estates. The role emphasizes keeping communities clean, safe and well maintained with a high-quality resident service.

You will work in a varied, hands-on environment, supporting anti-social behaviour reporting, safety checks and regular tool box talks, with opportunities for development within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking / cleaning, grounds maintenance, or waste services.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic maintenance or DIY skills.
• Experience using handheld devices for reporting tasks.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Caretaking and cleaning of communal areas, including halls, stairs, landings and lifts.
• Remove litter and waste from communal spaces and maintain bin stores and chute systems.
• Check and maintain communal lighting and refuse areas.
• Support basic grounds maintenance, litter picking, vegetation control and winter services.
• Assist with void properties clearance and reporting environmental issues.
• Ensure estates are clean, presentable and hazard-free.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and customer focused Estate Services Resilience Operative to join our team, with a strong emphasis on caretaking services across our estates.

This is a varied role where you will play a key part in keeping our communities clean, safe, and well maintained, delivering a high-quality service to our residents every day. While the role includes elements of grounds maintenance and waste services, it is rooted in caretaking excellence, ensuring communal areas are maintained to the highest standards.

What you’ll be doing

Caretaking and Cleaning

• Cleaning communal areas including halls, stairs, landings, and lifts
• Removing litter and waste from communal spaces
• Maintaining refuse areas, bin stores, and chute systems
• Checking and maintaining communal lighting

Grounds Maintenance

• Supporting basic grounds maintenance such as litter picking and vegetation control
• Assisting with winter services including snow clearance and gritting
• Supporting wider estate services teams where required
• Removing fly tipping and bulky waste from estates
• Supporting clearance of void properties and communal areas
• Reporting environmental issues such as anti-social behaviour, vandalism, and dog fouling
• Ensuring estates are clean, presentable, and free from hazards
