Data Entry Representative

Job Summary: In compliance with state and federal regulations, performs data entry and patient registration. Bachelor's degree is required. Responsible for resolving third‑party rejections and responding to high volume customer inquiries, working under direct supervision. Follows standard operating procedures and performs duties in accordance with company policies. Uses pharmaceutical systems to obtain patient and medication information. Duties may vary depending on the assigned department.
Job Responsibilities
- Using Walgreens prescription data entry guidelines and procedures, process new patient enrollment by entering data into the appropriate system.
- Handle patient prescription requests according to HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
- Troubleshoot missing prescription information and interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes).
- Resolve all data entry exceptions.
- Manage correspondence with patients (incoming calls, chat, emails) and make outgoing calls to prescribers and patients as needed.
- Resolve third‑party rejections by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing based on individual plan requirements. Call insurers and others to obtain information, get cancellation approval, or resolve third‑party denials.
- Provide support to pharmacists, both on‑site and off‑site. Identify and communicate issues to higher‑level personnel when appropriate.
- Obtain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days and maintain it thereafter.
Basic Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills (turning computer on/off, using mouse, starting and closing programs, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, and/or accessing information online)
- Basic search engine skills (opening a browser, typing URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking, navigating forward/back, completing online forms)
- Intermediate keyboard skills (at least 25 words per minute, typing, document formatting)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a Pharmaceutical Technician in a retail or call‑center environment
- At least 18 months as a Pharmacy Technician with a state certificate/registration issued by the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification body
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, meeting quality service standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
- Intermediate to advanced keyboard skills (at least 35 words per minute, typing, document formatting)
- Fluency in Spanish and English
