In accordance with national and federal rules, the Data Entry Representative is responsible for record entry and patient registration. The role handles a high volume of customer inquiries, operates under direct supervision, follows standard procedures, and uses pharmacy systems to maintain accurate patient and drug records. The position may also have additional responsibilities based on the assigned department.

Responsibilities

• Use Walgreens prescription entry methods and procedures to register new patients and input data into the system.
• Handle prescription requests, enter orders, troubleshoot missing data, and translate clinical abbreviations (e.g., SIG codes).
• Resolve data‑entry related exceptions and ensure accurate records.
• Communicate with patients via inbound calls, chats, and emails; make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed.
• Resolve third‑party rejects by reviewing information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing.
• Call insurers and other parties to obtain required information or override approvals.
• Provide assistance to pharmacists both in‑facility and at other locations, and communicate issues to senior staff.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills: starting and shutting down the computer, using the mouse and keyboard, opening and closing programs, transferring documents, printing, and accessing information online.
• Basic internet skills: opening a browser, entering URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking sites, and navigating back/forward buttons.
• Typing speed of at least 25WPM with accurate key‑presses and document formatting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or similar environment.
• Minimum 18 months of pharmacy technician experience with a national or state‑approved license or certificate.
• Experience delivering customer service to both internal and external customers, meeting high standards of service and customer satisfaction.
• Typing speed of at least 35WPM with accurate key‑presses and document formatting.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English.

Certification Requirement

The successful candidate must obtain and maintain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days of employment.
