Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago’s Malcolm X College seeks an Executive Director of Career and Workforce Development to lead career advising, education programming, and workforce initiatives. You will manage a professional staff and align services with the college’s strategies for student engagement, retention, and success.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), at least five years in higher education administration, strong data skills, and the ability to build employer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in student affairs, higher education or administration, career education, workforce development or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and operationalize a new space to address workforce and career readiness for current and prospective students and community members.
• Implements strategies and programming to assist and guide alumni, students, and community members in making informed career decisions and successful transitions into the workforce.
• Directs staff working with new/enrolled students and alumni in researching and selecting career and/or academic paths and implementing plans to achieve their goals.
• Guides staff of Career Services Advisors in meeting the unique needs of identified student populations including veterans, students with disabilities or other challenges, and alumni seeking career shifts.
• Collaborates with workforce partnerships to display job opportunities and connect job seekers (on campus and external) with opportunities.
• Oversees the provision of services and resources to assist students and job seekers pursuing a career in their field of study or interest.
• Directs development and delivery of workshops and presentations to support career exploration and attainment of goals.
• Collaborates with Marketing & Communications to promote the Center’s services via social media, newsletters, and events.
