Job summary

Communitas, Inc in Wakefield, MA is seeking a Career Services Assistant Director to lead and grow employment-focused programs for adults with developmental disabilities. You will supervise Career Services staff, manage daily operations, and partner with community employers to create meaningful job opportunities.

The role emphasizes person-centered leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaborative cross-department work to empower individuals and foster independence within the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Two+ years' experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DPH, CARF, QUEST, DDS, EOEA (Medicaid) policies and procedures preferred.
  • At least one year experience in an administrative role.
  • A passion and dedication to supporting our people is a must.
  • Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass company background and reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Career Services staff through hiring, supervision, training, coaching, and performance management, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven team culture.
  • Oversee daily Career Services operations, ensuring effective service delivery, scheduling, documentation, billing, and staffing; assume department leadership in the Director's absence.
  • Partner with individuals, staff, employers, and community organizations to create meaningful employment and community-based opportunities that promote choice, independence, inclusion, and personal growth.
  • Support individuals in achieving their employment and personal goals through ISPs, assessments, skill development, job coaching, career planning, and community participation.
  • Foster a person-centered environment where individuals and staff are encouraged to share ideas, make choices, build skills, and contribute to ongoing improvement of services.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance while ensuring accurate and timely documentation and communication with internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate across departments and with interdisciplinary teams to advocate for individual needs, strengthen services, and advance the mission and goals of Communitas.

Position: Career Services Assistant Director

Location: Wakefield, MA

Pay rate: $49,920 per year

Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday (8am-4pm) Status: Exempt

Summary & Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Career Services plays a meaningful leadership role in helping people discover their strengths, build skills, pursue employment, and fully participate in their communities. Through compassionate, person-centered leadership, this role supports individuals in achieving greater independence and choice while inspiring and developing staff to create innovative, inclusive, and empowering opportunities for the people we support.
