Job summary

University of New Haven is hiring a Career Advisor to lead career programming for students and alumni. You will provide resume/cover letter services, mock interviews, and internship/job search training, collaborating with faculty and student affairs to create customized training programs.

You will meet with students and alumni to develop individualized career development plans and coordinate events such as career fairs and workshops, strengthening university partnerships and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of related student counseling, coaching, or advising experience.
• Experience advising students and alumni on resumes, job searching, internships, interviewing, and graduate school preparation.
• Ability to learn and convey subject matter expertise; knowledge of career planning theory, practices, and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for internships, careers, and career readiness initiatives for students.
• Lead programming related to career management and preparation services for students and alumni including workshops and mock interviews.
• Build collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to meet customized needs of students and alumni with diverse career interests.
• Collaborate with student groups and departments to execute career development programs and engage students.
• Provide individual and group career development support including exploration, resumes, interviews, and graduate school prep.
• Utilize Handshake for appointment setting, career resource development, and event management.
• Develop knowledge of local, regional, and national hiring trends and graduate schools.
• Maintain advising notes, data metrics, and submit required reports.
