Job summary

Seminole State College of Florida is seeking a liaison to develop and implement strategies that recruit and retain students in Career and Technical Education programs. You will partner with students, advise on course choices, and monitor progress toward Certificates and A.S. degrees.

You will collaborate with Student Affairs, Program Managers, and faculty to remove barriers to success and provide accurate program information. Evening events and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • One year of experience working with students in a high school or postsecondary institution.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution (desired).
  • Knowledge of career and technical education programs.
  • Experience with grants projects.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with degree-seeking students to help identify courses and track progress through reports and degree audits.
  • Assists students with educational and career planning and makes referrals to Career Development Center.
  • Collaborates with campus staff to address barriers to student success and provide accurate program information.
  • Acts as liaison between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to enhance recruitment, advising, registration, and completion.
  • Supports recruitment activities such as information sessions, open houses, and workforce fairs.

Job description

Responsibilities

Develops and implements efficient and effective student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives for career and technical education (AS, CCERT and PSAV) programs.

  • Partners with A.S. Degree and Certificate seeking students tohelp them identify and select appropriate courses for their careerpath and educational goals. Tracks progress of students throughreports, queries, degree audits and follow-up contacts.
  • Assists students with educational and career planning byproviding career and occupational information about related A.S.Degree and Certificate programs; makes appropriate referrals toCareer Development Center
  • Collaborates with Student Affairs staff, Associate Deans,Program Managers, Faculty and staff in related areas to identifyand address barriers to student success.
  • Works with Program Managers and Associate Deans to provideaccurate program information to College staff, including StudentAffairs colleagues who work in recruiting, admissions, advising andregistration functions.
  • Acts as a liaison between Academic Affairs and Student Affairsto facilitate and enhance student recruitment, advising,registration, retention and program completion.
  • Assists the Student Affairs Recruiting and Admissions Office aswell as the Departments with recruitment activities such asinformation sessions, decision days, workforce fairs, etc. May bethe primary organizer of recruiting events such as openhouses.
  • Participates in college, state and regional staff developmentactivities and meetings to enhance assigned A.S. Degree andCertificate programs.
  • Implements strategies within the School of Career and TechnicalEducation to achieve Perkins Performance Measures (ImprovingStudent Academic Skills, Technical Skills, Program Completion,Placement, Retention, Nontraditional Enrollments, andNon-traditional Completion)
  • Enters and retrieves data from computer in order to support,advise and register students as well as track their progresstowards completion of Certificates, A.S. Degrees and VocationalCertificates.
  • Coordinates Workforce Central Florida or relatedgovernment-sponsored initiatives that affect students in relateddegrees and certificates
  • Coordinates admissions for related limited accessprograms.
  • Researches retention strategies; implements and evaluates pilotretention programs under direction of supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.

Work Environment and Special Considerations

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020.
