Job summary

Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) seeks a forward-thinking Coordinator of Career Development Services to lead student and alumni career supports. You will build employer partnerships, coordinate internships, and promote career readiness across MGCC.

This role works across Academic Affairs, Student Services, and Workforce Solutions. The successful candidate will drive events, manage resources, and analyze data to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education, Education, Career Development, Human Resources, Workforce Development, or related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of career development, employer needs, workforce preparation, student development, or related area.
• Current Virginia Community College System Career Coach Certification, National Association of Colleges and Employers Career Coach Certification, or similar credential; willingness to obtain within timeframe.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead/Develop comprehensive career services for MGCC students and alumni.
• Build employer partnerships to create employment, internships, externships, and work-based learning.
• Coordinate internships, externships, and other experiential learning opportunities.
• Support credential attainment and address barriers to completion.
• Promote Career Services college-wide across MGCC locations and events.
• Manage digital job board and career-management resources.
• Track participation and outcomes; prepare assessment reports.
• Collaborate across college to improve student career outcomes.
• Represent MGCC at employer, workforce development, and community events.
• Provide program leadership for career development and employer engagement.
