Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Career Advisor to provide adult and youth case management under WIOA across multiple sites. You will use assessments, coaching, job search assistance, and referrals to help clients overcome employment barriers.

The Workforce Development Division serves job seekers and employers countywide, offering career centers and partner sites. This role emphasizes performance-based environments with travel across the county.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services, or equivalent social service programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, or Psychology.
• An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in developing career and education action plans.
• Meet with customers one-on-one or in a group setting to review applications and determine if the customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements.
• Assist participants with resume development and job search activities.
• Assess participants' barriers to employment and arrange available resources and supportive services as needed, including transportation, education, and emergency assistance.
• Advise participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training, and permanent employment opportunities.
• Conduct and interpret academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments.
• Provide intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a caseload of up to 120 during the program period.
• Provide labor market information on in-demand occupations.
• Conduct program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with customers.
• Conduct outreach across Maricopa County to create awareness of the program services.
