Job summary
Maricopa County is seeking a Career Advisor to provide adult and youth case management under WIOA across multiple sites. You will use assessments, coaching, job search assistance, and referrals to help clients overcome employment barriers.
The Workforce Development Division serves job seekers and employers countywide, offering career centers and partner sites. This role emphasizes performance-based environments with travel across the county.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services, or equivalent social service programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, or Psychology.
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Responsibilities
- Assist participants in developing career and education action plans.
- Meet with customers one-on-one or in a group setting to review applications and determine if the customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements.
- Assist participants with resume development and job search activities.
- Assess participants' barriers to employment and arrange available resources and supportive services as needed, including transportation, education, and emergency assistance.
- Advise participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training, and permanent employment opportunities.
- Conduct and interpret academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments.
- Provide intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a caseload of up to 120 during the program period.
- Provide labor market information on in-demand occupations.
- Conduct program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with customers.
- Conduct outreach across Maricopa County to create awareness of the program services.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $23.00 - $28.50 hourly
Full Pay Range: $23.00 - $34.00 hourly
Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As the Career Advisor, you will provide adult and/or youth case management activities related to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) program in a variety of fast-paced, high-volume, performance-based environments throughout Maricopa County. This position utilizes assessments, career coaching, job search assistance, resource referrals, and services to help customers overcome barriers to employment, education, and training.
As part of the Maricopa County Human Services Department, the Workforce Development Division (WDD) is responsible for providing comprehensive workforce services for adult and youth job seekers and employers in Maricopa County. Services are available through two comprehensive career centers and partner sites in cities and towns across the Valley. WDD helps the community by providing a wide range of activities designed to assist career seekers, many with significant barriers to employment, in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary for self-supporting employment.

- One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services, or equivalent social service programs

- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Must complete background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to successfully secure and maintain the Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
Two or more years of professional-level experience in Career Services, Education, or Social Services.

- Provide labor market information on in-demand occupations
- Conduct program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with customers
- Conduct outreach across various areas of Maricopa County to create awareness of the program services
- Assist participants with resume development and job search activities
- Create, update, and maintain accurate participant case notes and files
- Provide and track referrals to program partners and community-based service providers
- Assist with job fairs, resource fairs, and other program events
- Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long periods of sitting, reading, and typing
- Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County
- The position requires travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies on the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
