Job summary

The Osborne Association seeks a full-time Career Coach to guide participants transitioning into work. You will develop employment plans, provide ongoing support, and mentor clients through pre- and post-employment phases in a community-centered setting.

Salary is hourly in New York, with benefits and opportunities for career development. In-person collaboration and outreach are essential to help clients secure career growth and lasting employment outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; in lieu of a degree high school diploma or equivalent and four years experience working for a nonprofit in workforce development or related field
  • At least two years of vocational/case management and job readiness experience
  • Experience working for a nonprofit agency supporting young adults, with understanding of the criminal justice environment
  • Experience providing direct services to people with barriers to employment

Responsibilities

  • Develop employment service plans with participants
  • Promote program services through outreach to drive referrals
  • Screen candidates for enrollment and orient to program objectives
  • Conduct intake interviews to assess program suitability
  • Identify participant training interests and refer to training partners
  • Provide case management with mentoring and counseling
  • Meet with participants to address challenges and successes
  • Document progress in confidential records and Salesforce/DOP Connect
  • Collaborate with external agencies for additional services
  • Coordinate weekly job readiness workshops
  • Provide service outcome information for reporting
  • Attend interdepartmental meetings to raise awareness of resources
  • Attend assigned training and work collaboratively onsite

We are currently seeking a full time Career Coach. The Career Coach will be the primary resource for participants transitioning into the workforce, ensuring that participants succeed in their careers. The career coach will support participants to navigate career growth through training placements, ongoing support and counseling. They will also mentor participants in the pre and post employment phases of service provision.


Salary: $28.02-$29.40 an hour


Requirements

Essential Duties:


  • Support participants by participating in the development of employment service plans

  • Conduct outreach to promote program services to ensure client referrals

  • Screen potential candidates for program enrollment and orient participants to the program by sharing program objectives

  • Conduct thorough intake screening interviews and assessments to evaluate program compatibility for potential program enrollment

  • Identify participant training interests that will lead to career tracks and ensure appropriate referral matching to training partners

  • Provide case management to participants with support and follow up through mentoring, counseling and annoying coaching

  • Meet with participants to address issues, challenges and successes

  • Document participant progress in the form of individual service entries and maintain confidential case records

  • Maintain relationships with external agencies to refer or obtain additional participant services

  • Facilitate weekly workshops addressing issues related to job readiness, professionalism and cognitive behavior

  • Provide monthly service outcome information and supporting documentation for reporting purposes as required by funding agencies

  • Attend and participate in appropriate interdepartmental and cross-functional meetings to increase awareness of job placement services and additional resources that support participants

  • Document all participant progress in Salesforce and DOP Connect

  • Attend assigned training

  • In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; in lieu of a degree high school diploma or equivalent and four years experience working for a non-profit agency in workforce development or related field

  • At least two years of experience in vocational/case management and job readiness experience

  • At least one year of experience working for a non-profit agency supporting young adults, with an understanding of the criminal justice environment

  • Experience providing direct services to people with barriers to employment

  • Competence in career exploration, case management, internships and job search strategies

  • Strong ability to gain and maintain relationships with individuals who can offer educational, vocational, internship/apprenticeship and employment opportunities

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to pay strong attention to detail, and time management skills

  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions

  • Strong data entry skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results

  • Ability to travel locally

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships
