Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a Nurse Tech in the Neuroscience Unit on the University Hospital campus in Columbia, MO. The role focuses on patient transfers, meal delivery, feeding assistance, and daily tasks to support nursing staff.

Responsibilities include training new team members, maintaining order on the unit, and ensuring accurate documentation and timely response to patient needs, with shifts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing education program with completion of Fundamentals of Nursing within 90 days; or
• CNA certification or registration; or
• PCT certification; or
• Three years of direct patient care experience as nursing assistant/EMT/surgical tech; or
• UAP training with 100 hours of patient care; or
• Recent nursing licensure candidate status; or
• Nursing program completed outside the U.S. awaiting licensure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transferring patients and meal delivery as directed.
• Answer unit phones promptly and deliver messages clearly to patients and staff.
• Educate and train new Care Team Associates.
• Perform patient position changes and basic hygiene care.
• Conduct simple dressing changes and glucose checks; may perform venipuncture.
• Enter information into bed-management system accurately and timely.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights with professional care.
