Overview
Job Summary

Assists patients and providers with coordinating referrals, obtaining authorizations, and scheduling. Responsible for understanding benefits coverage to ensure coordinated patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
  • Coordinates and prepares financial estimates for patients.
  • Obtains all necessary authorizations.
  • Guides patients to providers within their insurance plan.
  • Reviews benefits and educates patients on insurance coverage.
  • Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, or other services with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Reviews and confirms accuracy of schedules and proper time allocation.
  • Follows up on referrals to prevent care gaps.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for long periods and work in a fast-paced office environment. Ability to bend and lift up to 10 lbs. is required.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Computer skills required. Knowledge of insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies preferred. Familiarity with medical records software preferred. Customer service experience required.
