Job Summary
Assists patients and providers with coordinating referrals, obtaining authorizations, and scheduling. Responsible for understanding benefits coverage and ensuring patient's care is coordinated.

Overview
This role involves assisting with referrals, authorizations, scheduling, and understanding insurance benefits to facilitate coordinated patient care.

Essential Functions

  1. Complete referrals and coordinate with referring and receiving practices or departments.
  2. Coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
  3. Obtain all necessary authorizations.
  4. Guide patients to providers within their insurance plan.
  5. Review benefits and educate patients on insurance coverage.
  6. Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, or other services with internal and external providers.
  7. Review and confirm schedules are accurate and appropriately allocated.
  8. Follow up on referrals to ensure no care gaps.

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for long periods and work in a fast-paced office environment. Capable of bending and lifting up to 10 lbs.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Computer experience required. Knowledge of insurance coverage types and medical necessity policies preferred. Experience with medical records software and customer service preferred.
