Job summary

The University of Minnesota CUHCC seeks a Referrals & Orders Coordinator for a 20 hour/week, on-site role in the Twin Cities. You will manage referrals and follow-ups, assist patients with logistics, and support the care team after visits to ensure timely next steps.

You will work with interpreters, nurses, and providers, ensuring compliance with policies. A medical secretarial background and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial program; or one year of medical clerical experience which must include keyboarding experience and experience interacting with people (i.e., receptionist, switchboard, etc).
• 3 years of customer service experience.
• Experience working with electronic medical records and other software such as Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all referrals and orders such as DMEs, prior authorizations, and care re-certifications are complete and routed to the appropriate provider.
• Assist in scheduling follow up appointments and referral appointments to other facilities.
• Assist patients with maps, facility location and direct dial numbers.
• Coordinate with Health Information Management to ensure records and results are available to the external provider before the patient’s appointment.
• Assist patients with medications, transportation, or connection to community resources as needed.
• Assist providers in completing patient forms when appropriate.
• Assist patients in returning to patient service representatives to apply for public programs if needed.
• Collaborate with staff in other patient care areas and attend staff meetings.
