Job summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist I at Independence Health System in Greensburg, PA performs a wide range of tasks in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including recording physiological data, monitoring, and assisting the cardiologist as scrub, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.

It requires operation and calibration of the hemodynamic recorder system, data entry, imaging management, lab setup, and inventory responsibilities, along with patient preparation and teamwork

Qualifications

• Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Completion of an accredited school of cardiovascular technology
• High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education
• One-year experience cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and/or radiology lab as a technologist
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
• Medical Terminology
• Basic Math and Keyboard Proficiency
• Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and calibrate the hemodynamic recorder system and related equipment used during cath lab procedures
• Operate the computer during procedures and inputs patient data
• Manage all cardiac catheterization lab imaging
• If trained, serve as scrub assistant to the cardiologist
• Clean and set up lab before each procedure
• Prepare reusable instruments for return to Central Supply
• Dispose of non-reusable instruments properly
• Ensure emergency equipment is present and functional
• Maintain supplies and inventory in a cost-effective manner
• Provide instruction and direction to patients and families
• Prepare surgical site and drapes patient
• Coordinate emergency procedures when necessary
• Assist with arterial and venous sheath removal
• Perform clerical duties related to patient testing
• Assist in patient transport to/from lab
• Assist with PI activities as directed
• Assist with retrieval of medications under physician/ RN direction
• Communicate clearly with management and team members
