Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. The role supports the surgical team as a scrub person under RN supervision, ensuring safe, sterile procedures and proper handling of instrumentation and supplies.

Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, BLS certification, and strong communication and decision-making skills. Cardiovascular OR experience is preferred. Call is required per unit standards.

Qualifications

• Two years of Cardiovascular acute hospital setting preferred, one year required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• LPN Licensure (if applicable).
• One (1) year experience is preferred or STHS experience through the Surgical Tech Educational affiliate program.
• Current BLS certification through ILCOR courses.
• Call is required according to unit standards.
• Good communication skills and able to make decisions.

Responsibilities

• Surgical Technologists function as members of the surgical team as scrub person.
• Work under the supervision of a RN to facilitate safe and sterile procedures.
• Prepare and handle instrumentation, supplies, and devices for the surgical procedure.
