Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the STHS Surgery Center. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the technologist handles instruments, sutures, sponges and all sterile equipment to support the surgical team.

Full-time role with no weekends, no holidays, and no call. Requires graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology, current BLS, and CST certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology with one year OR experience preferred.
• Good communication and decision-making skills.
• Surgical Technology Certification (CST) preferred.
• Current BLS certification through ILCOR provider courses with manikin check off.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, handles instruments, sutures, sponges and sterile equipment for procedures.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and supports the surgeon during operations.
• Ensures safe, sterile technique and assists with setup and cleanup of the OR.
