Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma and obtain AAPC CIRCC certification within 18 months.
• Three years of advanced medical/cardiovascular coding experience preferred or equivalent credential.
• Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology for coding.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and analyze cardiovascular and interventional procedures for billing.
• Assign CPT/APC codes to Medicare, Medicaid and other payors.
• Determine DRG/APC assignments for inpatient and outpatient records.
• Ensure accuracy and productivity for the coded records and stay current with coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with physicians to resolve documentation and charges discrepancies.
• Abstract data from medical records into the hospital computer system.
