Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; CIRCC certification mandatory.
• Three years of advanced medical and surgical coding preferred or equivalent Heart/ vascular credentials.
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and E/M coding; experience with payer guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Abstract diagnosis and procedure codes into hospital system per guidelines.
• Assign DRG or APC for Medicare, Medicaid and other payors.
• Review pre-bill claims and post-remittance reimbursements for cardiovascular care.
• Collaborate with physicians to resolve documentation and charge discrepancies.
• Provide in-service education to cardiovascular staff and physicians.
