Job summary

Wellstar Health Systems, Inc. in Georgia is seeking a Full-time Cath Lab Tech for the Kennestone facility. The role supports cardiovascular cath and EP procedures, with a day shift, and requires on-call nights plus one weekend per month.

Responsibilities include patient prep, sterile technique, data entry in the cath lab log, and collaboration with interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists to ensure safe, high-quality care. Strong clinical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Science or related field required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• One year cardiovascular cath/EP lab experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education or CVT program with RCIS and/or ARRT-CV preferred
• All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated
• Minimum 1 year functioning independently in cardiovascular cath/EP lab; 2 years healthcare experience preferred

• Knows existing lines of communication and authority
• Handles communications properly
• Introduces self to patient using proper scripting (AIDET)
• Transports patients as needed
• Maintains patient privacy and comfort
• Maintains departmental records and regulatory standards
• Enters data into cath lab log and verifies accuracy
• Completes necessary paperwork
• Assists with supplies and equipment for procedures
• Educates patients and families about procedures and post-care

Full-time Cath Lab Tech at Kennestone4 x 10's, 6:15a-5:45pCall is Required: 1 Night/week + 1 Weekend per month

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Clinical Skills- Completion of cardiovascular cath and/or EP competencies
• May function in monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles
• Able to use critical thinking skills
• Work in conjunction with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists
• Preps and educates the patient for procedure
• Demonstrates and understands sterile technique
• Quality and Patient Safety- Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, i.. Armband, DOB, verbal identification
• Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker
• Verifies Written Order and Consent, seeks clarification if order or consent unclear
• Uses and understands preprocedural verification/ time out form
• Understands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated

Job Responsibilities

• Transports patients as needed
• Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers
• Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement
• Enters data in to cath lab log and verifies accuracy and completeness
• Completes necessary paperwork
• Answers departmental phone using proper scripting
• Maintains stock levels and outdates
• Maintain current License and BLS/ACLS certifications
• Works as a team with other cath_EP lab staff to obtain the best possible outcome
• Performs any other duties as needed when asks by leadership
• Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure
• Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure
• Patient Education- Responsible for patient, family/support system education
• Responsible for patient education as it relates to their procedure, including preparing the patient for future procedures and/or transfer to another facility
• Provide post procedural home care instructions as needed

Required Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in Health Science or Related Field Required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.One year of cardiovascular cath/EP lab experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education or of CVT program with RCIS and/or ARRT-CV Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Registered CVI Specialist-Preferred

Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor

Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS - Instructor or ACLS - Provisional

Additional License(s) and Certification(s)

Required Minimum Experience:Minimum 1 year functioning independently in cardiovascular cath/electrophysiology lab may be substituted in lieu of formal education.2 Years of Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
