Wellstar Health Systems, Inc. in Georgia seeks a Full-time Cath Lab Tech at Kennestone to support interventional cardiology procedures.

The role involves completing cath/EP procedures, patient prep, and on-call coverage with 4 x 10-hour shifts. You will collaborate with interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists, maintain sterile technique, verify patient identity, educate patients, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Science or related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• One year of cardiovascular cath/EP lab experience may substitute education or CVT program with RCIS and/or ARRT-CV preferred.
• All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated (BLS/ACLS).

Responsibilities

• Complete cardiovascular cath and/or EP procedures and related tasks.
• Assist with monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating duties as needed.
• Maintain sterile technique and patient safety, verify patient identity, and document procedures.
• Provide patient education and support, transport patients, and assist with charting and records.

Full-time Cath Lab Tech at Kennestone

4 x 10's, 6:15a-5:45p

Call is Required: 1 Night/week + 1 Weekend per month
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Clinical Skills
- Completion of cardiovascular cath and/or EP competencies
- May function in monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles
- Able to use critical thinking skills
- Work in conjunction with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists
- Preps and educates the patient for procedure
- Demonstrates and understands sterile technique Quality and Patient Safety
- Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, i.e Armband, DOB, verbal identification
- Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker
- Verifies Written Order and Consent, seeks clarification if order or consent unclear
- Uses and understands preprocedural verification/ time out form
- Understands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated Job Responsibilities
- Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs
- Able to work scheduled and cath lab On-Call hours
- Knows existing lines of communication and authority
- Handles communications properly
- Introduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting ie. AIDET
- Transports patients as needed
- Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers
- Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement
- Enters data in to cath lab log and verifies accuracy and completeness
- Completes necessary paperwork
- Answers departmental phone using proper scripting
- Maintains stock levels and outdates
- Maintain current License and BLS/ACLS certifications
- Works as a team with other cath_EP lab staff to obtain the best possible outcome
- Performs any other duties as needed when asks by leadership
- Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure
- Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure Patient Education
- Responsible for patient, family/support system education
- Responsible for patient education as it relates to their procedure, including preparing the patient for future procedures and/or transfer to another facility
- Provide post procedural home care instructions as needed Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree in Health Science or Related Field Required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

One year of cardiovascular cath/EP lab experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education or of CVT program with RCIS and/or ARRT-CV Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• Registered CVI Specialist-Preferred

• Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS - Instructor or ACLS - Provisional

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 1 year functioning independently in cardiovascular cath/electrophysiology lab may be substituted in lieu of formal education.

2 Years of Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
