Job summary

Catholic Health is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive patient care within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Service. The PA conducts exams, documents data, assists in surgeries, orders tests, and participates in pre/post-operative care under surgeon supervision.

Candidates must be a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program (Master’s preferred), NY licensed PA with NCCPA certification, BLS/ACLS/AED, and DEA license. Prior CT Surgery experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA
• Master’s degree preferred or new grad with relevant electives/clinical background

Responsibilities

• Function as first or second assistant under surgeon during cardiothoracic procedures
• Harvest and prepare saphenous veins for bypass grafting
• Be on-call to assist surgeons in urgent/emergency cases
• Assist in pre- and post-operative patient care under surgeon supervision
• Write orders and progress notes for CT surgery patients
• Provide training for students/paramedicals associated with CT Surgery
