Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited perfusion program required.
• Board eligible for certification or ABCP certified with annual recertification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs extracorporeal circulation using heart-lung machines during cardiac surgeries.
• Performs cardio-pulmonary perfusions to meet circulatory and respiratory needs.
• Operates heart-lung machines and related equipment for perfusion.
• Monitors, calibrates and maintains devices per relevant standards.
• Monitors physiological parameters and responds to emergencies during perfusion.
• Adheres to quality assurance policies for safe perfusion practices.
• Operates blood salvage and hemoconcentration devices as needed.
• Supports other medical specialties as part of the clinical perfusion team.
• Manages HIPEC pumping/heating for surgical chemotherapy treatments.
• Involves setup, priming, initiation, and troubleshooting of ECMO outside OR as needed.
