Job summary

Atlantic Health System seeks a Staff Perfusionist to operate and maintain the heart-lung machine during cardiopulmonary bypass, ensuring optimal perfusion and hemodynamics in cardiac surgeries. You will manage physiologic parameters, monitor circuit function, and collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Heart/Lung machine during cardiopulmonary bypass to maintain cardiac output and hemodynamics.
• Administer medications and blood components through the extracorporeal circuit.
• Draw blood samples from the extracorporeal circuit and adjust blood gas parameters.
• Maintain adequate anticoagulation during bypass.
• Initiate ECMO and monitor patients on ECMO.
• Operate the cell saver.
• Operate the HIPEC machine and AngioVac circuit.
• Maintain quality controls for iStat and TEG and interpret results.
• Collaborate with OR staff to ensure safe cardiac surgery.
• Build, maintain, prime and breakdown perfusion equipment as needed.
• Assemble and monitor ventricular assist device.
