Job summary

Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Bluffton, SC, is expanding its Cardiopulmonary team within the Bluffton Community Hospital project. The Cardiopulmonary Assistant will support respiratory care services and assist with cardiographic testing in a busy hospital setting.

Under supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner, you will participate in continuous care delivery as part of the Respiratory Therapy Department, with shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational level is a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
• Preferred- experience in healthcare setting for 6 months or specialized training in a cardiopulmonary program, or PATH program.
• BLS required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• The Cardiopulmonary Assistant will provide support for respiratory care services under the direction of a licensed respiratory care practitioner.
• Perform and process cardiographic testing modalities, EKG, heart monitor setup, and stress testing.
• Interact with staff across the hospital and work in shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Description

South of Broad Healthcare (SOBH) is expanding access to high-quality, community-based healthcare throughout southern Beaufort County and the surrounding Lowcountry. Grounded by a mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, SOBH supports strategic growth designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people and communities we serve. At the center of SOBH is Bluffton Community Hospital, a new 28 bed, full-service hospital. Approximately 90,000 square foot facility will include a 24/7 emergency department, an acute inpatient nursing unit, surgical and endoscopy suites, a cardiac catheterization lab, advanced imaging, laboratory services, and additional outpatient capabilities. The hospital is scheduled for completion in late 2026, with patient care anticipated to be early 2027.

The Cardiopulmonary Assistant in the Respiratory Therapy Department under the direction of a licensed respiratory care practitioner, will provide support for respiratory care services for the treatment of patients with disordered respiratory physiology, and will perform tasks in the clinical setting as delegated by the respiratory care practitioner. The Cardiopulmonary Assistant in the cardiology department is responsible for the performing and processing of cardiographic testing modalities, EKG, heart monitor set up, and stress testing. He/she abides by all hospital policies and interacts with staff from all areas of the hospital. Staffing in the department is 24 hours a day and includes shifts for days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
