Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of medical clerical experience; preferably in scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes.
• Excellent organizational, communication and teamworking skills.
• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets and computerized scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical, cardiovascular or obstetrical procedures in a computerized system.
• Enter patient charges, orders and other data for reporting.
• Coordinate communication among department staff, physicians and patients.
• Process authorizations and follow-ups with insurance companies.
• Assist as a receptionist for the assigned unit and manage calls and messages.
• Maintain confidentiality and support a smooth workflow in the scheduling area.
